Shopping
Op-shopping has got to be the way to go if you're after low cost wear... and you can often find bargain records and CDs, too. Beware that there's often differing views on what Op Shops believe their role is: some feel that they're serving poor people who can't afford retail clothes, while others feel that their Op Shops are money-making ventures to provide funds for their other activities. The only way to be sure is to check them out yourself. Steer clear of the so-called 'Recycled Clothing Boutiques' though... ripoff city!
Miscellaneous
- Gothic Scouts Australia:
Calum (slade_one#bigpond.com) has compiled a list of Australians and New Zealanders who are members of Gothic Scouts (http://www.gothic.net/~mage/goth/scouts/) with the intention of creating a resource club for Australian goths who are into scouting. If you believe the gothic culture and scouting can happily coexist, Calum can put you in touch with some like minded people.

They have moved downstairs of the venue where there is a more intimate atmosphere, and an even more impressive lighting rig is now there. They have a quarterly newsletter for members, and hold events elsewhere, such as a recent midnight screening of Rocky Horror at the Picadilly and a one off S&M night called Submission at the Globe Entertainment complex. They are on the way to starting up video nights again at the University of Western Australia. Things currently in the pipeline are to stream the club via Realaudio and to introduce regular band nights. The organisation is a social club, and encourages input from its members. (22-Nov-1998)

- HOUSE OF WAX RECORD STORE:
808 Hay St, Perth. Tel: 9481 0267.
Good value; nice range of music in CD and vinyl... not too many cassettes, however. Lots of good stuff. I hate it when Helen takes me down there. I spend too much :-).

9?? Hay St, Perth.
They've just moved from their old location into much larger premises. They sell t-shirts and music. Their second-hand collection is pretty nice, though still not to the same level as Dada's yet.. Music
- REDEYE:
Corner of George & King St., City. Tel: (02) 9233 8177.
Sydney's most popular alternative record shop. Quite good for all types of alternative music, though expensive. Has a gothic shelf and an industrial shelf. Also has a secondhand shop, where good stuff can sometimes be found. Newer stuff i stupidly expensive (like $25 for a secondhand CD!?) but you can find some bargains on older stuff. ***
- MUSIC ZONE:
Shop 413 Westfield, Chatswood. Tel: (02) 9411 6652
Though stocking all types of music, some goth/industrial can be found amongst the "indie" section. But always check the city shops first. *
- WATERFRONT:
89 York St., City. Tel: (02) 9262 4120.
Similar to Redeye, a general-purpose alternative record shop. Also has books, and some second hand stuff. It often has a specifically goth/industrial shelf, depending on supply and demand. Has the shelf again - getting better at the moment with Bones (ex-Neuromantic DJ) working there specifically for the Goth/industrial stuff. I'd say equal to Redeye for new stuff, but not for second hand. **
- PHANTOM:
375 Pitt St., City. Tel: (02) 9264-8992
Another alternative record shop with a goth/industrial shelf. Not as big as Redeye or Waterfront, but the staff are more goth-friendly - often when I've bought something there, they've shown me stuff I "might be interested in" which they haven't put on the shelves yet. Goth section ever shrinking **
- UTOPIA:
636 George Street sydney, 2000. Phone: 9283 2423.

Clothes
- CREATURE WITHIN:

Run by Jacquie Ramsden and Rob Livingstone. They have fantastic Gothic Mail Order clothing, and Designer jewellery. Check them out and email them and have a chat, they're lovely people.
- ROCCO'S:
in Station Street, Malvern.
These guys are one of Melbourne's best kept secrets. They're a tiny little, Italian-migrant, family-owned business who have survived without any advertising whatsoever (as far as I'm aware) for godknows how long, purely on the word of mouth people put around. Go in there, look at all the shoes in the shop, pick out bits and pieces you like (eg, "I want the heel like these ones, the toe like this pair, the boots have to be a bit higher up the leg than these ones" - get the idea?) then let them measure your feet. In a few weeks' time, you'll have the best goddamn pair of shoes or boots you've ever owned, AND they'll be made _especially_ for your feet AND will last you a coupla decades longer than anything you could get at Succhi or elsewhere.
- MORTISHA'S:
47 Chapel St. Windsor Tel: 03-9533 6255
Sells clothes and jewellery mostly and you can go there to pick up details on any up coming goth events in Melbourne. The people its run by organise our annual Gothic Ball. The clothes are, obvisouly gothic and cater for both men and women. Plenty of dresses, shirts, capes, skirts. The dresses are particulary stunning. This is a very popular shop with Melbourne goths mostly due to the wonderful quality and great style of the clothes. A veritable assortment of little jewellery and stuff can also be found here... they have some great stuff. If in Melbourne, always a good idea to check it out.
- DAUGHTERS OF DARKNESS:
Email: dbathory#swin.edu.au
This is clothing only, and womens. Run by D'Magda, the best way to find out about it would be to e-mail her. She specialises in medievial clothing. She's prolly got the best goth gear in the city. The clothes are really well made and look stunning. You can get dresses, corsets, capes, skirts and shirts.. Any Melbourne goths should look out for her work.
- CHARLIE WEAVERS:
Barkly St, St. Kilda. (near the cnr of Acland St)
This shop has a mixture of cool stuff. From clothes to jewellery to furniture and general assorted birc-a-brac. The stuff is mostly second hand and always cheap. If you're looking fer a bargain and some weirded out stuff, heres the place to go.
- PHANTAZEUM CLOTHING:
137 Chapel St Windsor 3181 Ph: (03) 9521-2181.
Range of clothing to suit the average Goth. Lots of club wear as well as the day to day wear. Mainly women's stuff but they are trying to do more men's (though nothing tailored). Interesting and reasonably priced.
- GOWN OF THORNS: 400 Brunswick St Fitzroy Ph: (03) 9417-5399.
From their web site: "For Your Pleasure. The creator of apparel bearing the 'Kinder der Nacht' label (as seen in Mortisha's) seeks to entice you with a collection of gothic and alternative delectables, housed at 400 Brunswick St. Fitzroy, including: High Gothic Evening Gowns, Mortisha's Label Clothing, PVC, Original T-Shirts, Jewellery, Vintage Clothing, Objets D'Art.
- VICIOUS VENUS: 186 King St. Melbourne Ph: (03) 9670 0400.
PVC, corsetry and fantasy fashions. The web site http://www.pout.com.au/ has photography of clothing from this store, as well as from a number of others. It also has video from local events such as Sexpo, and is worth looking through.
Clubs
- SUBCULTURE: 14 McKillop Street, Saturdays 10pm to 5:30am
Reviews range from: "Never got hassled and I knew more of the songs down there too as they play a lot of stuff you would hear upstairs except the techno, industrial, 80's gothic and so forth." to "Upstairs is still too small, fucking hot, nowhere to sit, the people are even more uppity and snobby than Abyss." to "There are 4 floors in the club, only one of which is for the goth crowd. In the past everybody had to go through the "grunge/generic alternative" (y'know, those flannelette shirt wearing types) floor, which is always tightly packed.... _not_ a pleasant experience for many I believe. It's not so bad now that the door arrangements have been changed. The door staff do present a rather unfriendly attitude, although this is quite likely necessary to deter drunken idiots and the like." Cost is now $7, or $5 with a pass or membership. Four levels (1st = Cafe, 2nd = Grunge/General alternative, 3rd = Indie, 4th = Goth). The goth level is now 5 times the size of what it was when they opened, and now has much improved sound equipment, full band facilities and well trained bar staff.
- ABYSS AND ORIGINAL OXIDE/MORTIS:
Paladin Nightclub, 629 Bourke St. Melbourne.
Cost $5 with pass. Every Friday night from 10pm till 5.30 or so. The downstairs section of the venue (which is an old jail; bluestone walls, slate floor, glass ceiling above which tower the glass and neon spires of the city's office buildings). Abyss is now at the same night and location as the original oxide/mortis. With Abyss being downstairs, while Oxide/mortis are upstairs at the Paladin. The new Abyss is simailar to the 'old' one, however playlists have been renewed. UPDATE: as of several months ago Abyss has moved back to the old Wall Street (currently and for the next few minutes at least known as the HiFi Bar on Swanston Street), where it is a monthly event. Read current advert posts in aus.culture.gothic for up to date information.
- DRACULA'S THEATRE RESTAURANT:
100 Victoria Street, Carlton
The show consists of a two hour musical comedy with a break of twenty minutes in the middle. The attire of waiter/ess is gothic and the drinks list has many interesting titles to chose from. The meal is quite good and the over all atmosphere is very enjoyable. From the review, it seems more aimed at those who'd like a goth-lite atmosphere, with the campness of the Rocky Horror Picture Show (not a -bad- thing). Souvenirs are available and proceeds go to charity.
- BLUE VELVET: 60 Smith Street, Collingwood. Phone 03 9415 9800. Now with a new, improved 4 am license on Fridays, Blue Velvet remains one of the few dependable alternatives to the alleged goth alternatives. Many an acger can be found there either drinking the working week's sorrows away or trying to comment on the relative niceness of various people's boots. Open from 9, Thursdays and Fridays. Saturdays on only for special occasions (AFAIK).

Has a lot of old records there too that you won't find in too many other places.
- DOROBO RECORDS: P.O.Box 22, Glen Waverley, Victoria 3150 Fax: 61-(0)3-9756-0341
A recording studio rather than a retail store.
- AU-GO-GO:
No review.
- COLLECTORS CORNER:
Pretty expensive, although they have a good collection of vinyl. If it's rare, you could always try collectors corner, although they usually specialise in 'popular' music.
- MISSING LINK:
Punk etc mostly.
- GROUND UNDER PRODUCTIONS: Jarod, proud owner and only employee of the GUP empire can often be seen at the various clubs and in the newsgroup, hawking his wares and defending the actions of the evil record companies and railing against MP3's and the burning of CD's. Mail order or online order available for all your industrial / ebm / futurepop / some other variant and remix needs.

- BORDERS:
Jam Factory - Chapel St. South Yarra between Commercial Rd. and Toorak Rd.
Near as I can figure (not having been there) it's a cross between a library, a bookshop and a cafe. Grab a book or magazine, read it in the cafe with a coffee, buy it if you want to, but you are under no obligation to do so. (Tim Serong) The cafe is a nice idea, but the problems are (2) no windows and (1) the coffee is ABSOLUTELY FOUL. *And* overpriced. I paid $3.20 for something that tasted like Nescafe. We basically left our coffees behind. The magazine section is to die for ... I have no idea how they expect this to be economically sustainable. But we'll enjoy it while it's there. They had 'Propaganda' and 'Carpe Noctem' (we bought the latter). They also had the excellent pervert magazine 'Marquis' ... but it was forty-two dollars. Eeek! Parking is 95% not possible. Driving is 99.8% not possible. The tram is the 78/79 (Chapel Street), or you can try the 8 (Toorak Road) or 72 (Commercial Road). (David Gerard)

New management has been allowing goths back in... yay! :) UPDATE: It's a sad fact of life in Brisbane that the Normanby Hotel got slaughtered... it's still in operation as a pub, but the downstairs area which was the fabulous Normanby beer garden... well, they ran a busway through it :( (heretic, cheshrkat#antisocial)

Music
- HMV

Adelaide (SA)
Clothes
BIZARRE BAZZAR: Now at 29A Twin St. By far the best value 2nd hand store.
KITTENS, VAMPS & VIXENS:
Has opened where Bizarre Bazaar used to be at the North Terrace end of Gawler Place.
- FAT AFROS:
A 'funky' second hand boutique at 179 Hindley Street. They also stock the Truck: Post Bitumen Rubber brand, a local designer (The Pam Queen) who makes a lot of cool items of clothing out of PVC and recycled rubber. Worth a look. Just up the road, on Hindley is Chapel Gesture a raver clothing store that also stocks some Truck. Gets some cool stuff in from around Australia that functions as 'goth' excellently.
- APHROS SEX SHOP:
in Light Square
Has the best range of fetish and leatherware in Adelaide. Collars, armbands, spikes etc etc are all there and very reasonably priced. Also goes into a lot of extreme bondage stuff - restraints, hoods, sextoys etc (so beware if you're easily offended). They also stock a HUGE RANGE of latex and PVC stuff. Gloves, shorts, pants, leggings, corsets, underwear, boots, shoes etc etc all in PVC and Latex. Reasonably priced and decent quality. Their range of PVC/Fetish fashion clothing rivals Sydney's The House Of Fetish - albeit a bit more pricey. Well worth a look. But again: you will be exposed to graphic and intense pornography if you go in there, so be warned (and over 18). The staff are really friendly, and more specifically Goth-friendly too. Often times I've wandered in there and met many casual acquaintances from the scene. They know the hardcore bondage scene well, and also appreciate the fashion of it - don't be shy, ask. More than cooperative!
- MISS GLADYS SYM SHOON'S / THE EMPORIUM:
in Rundle St.
A glam/funky clothing store. Very hip. They get in alot of excellent sydney design stuff - lots of velvet, silk, rubber, pvc and mesh. You pay for the brands, mind you, but if you look around alot and often you'll come across more than a fair share of reduced and sale-items. The quarterly massive sales are also worth a look... cheap, cheap stuff to be found. They stock Destroyer boots, too.
- CENTRAL STATION'S FLIPSIDE CLOTHING:
in the mall
Cool textiles, but pricey and you have to trawl through a lot of sub-standard clothes for the odd discovery. Better for girls, but the odd item for the guys as well.
- GENIE SHOES:
on Hindmarsh Square, City.
Shoe maker extraordinaire.. also makes great silversmithing to order.
- ENCHANTDRESS:
73a Hindley St, Adelaide. 8212 7511.
Always worth passing by as they regularly display posters and flyers for Adelaide events.
- SILK ROUTE, BIMBOS:
Rundle Street
Jewelry.
- HANG-UP:
Grenfell St, Next to Harris Scarfe
Some Gothic Jewelry. Large range of Pagan / Celtic / Fantasy jewelry and ornaments.
- ORANGE LANE MARKET:
Just off The Parade, Norwood. Weekends until 5pm.
"Buncha tree-loving hippy crap!"
If you lived locally and were prepared to search every stall every weekend you just might find something. Reasonable selection of non-fiction books. A stall with catnip cigarettes, ephedra and other 'legal highs'. If you're even slightly sensitive to airborne irritants don't go in. -- Everyone's Shadow (everyones_shadow#hello.net.au)
- BRICKWORKS MARKET:
South Rd. Thebarton
Only worth going weekends. Good stalls with cheap male formalwear and capes. Meant for hippies so they stink of incense.
- MISTS OF TIME:
Westfields Marion, Level 1, near Myer
'Clothing for the individual' they say. Historically inspired clothing both in black and brighter shades. Expensive at full price by good discounts when they have a sale.
- BLACK ONYX FASHIONS:
127c Goodwood Rd Goodwood
It's on weekdays and weekends. Prices are: Cheap. Rating: Unknown. Wide range of recycled alternative fashions I certify that I'm not employed by this organisation.
Clubs
There are now no regular Gothic clubs in Adelaide. Special nights are put on every 3 months or so. These are always great fun.
- PROSCENIUM:
Blyth St, off Hindley St.
There may still be a few lost Goths wandering in here thinking there's a Gothic night on Thursday or Saturday. Don't believe Rip it Up or dB. There isn't. Proscenium's closed on Thursdays now. If you're desperate, consider going on Saturday but check very carefully that they're not hosting a visiting techno DJ. There's probably a $5 door charge.
Music
- BIG STAR:
Rundle Street..
have started up their Gothic/ Industrial section again :-) good for 2nd hand stuff and for getting stuff brought in.
- VERANDAH MUSIC:
Rundle Street.
for Industrial bits, also good heavy metal and a semi-decent Goth section.
- THE ATTIC:
Richmond Arcade.
Mostly second hand. Very good 80s selection whether your tastes be goth or synthpop. Pop next door to Pneumatic if punk, ska, hardcore or the like is your thing. Also stocks the most obvious gothic bands.
- ANDROMEDA MUSIC:
Basement, IOOF Building, Gawler Place
Good range of second hand CDs (with separate gothic section). Very, very old vinyl collection.
- KRYPTON DISCS:
Jetty Rd (Moseley Sq. End) Glenelg
Open til 11pm 7 days a week. Just looks like a normal suburban record shop. But the back half is second-hand CDs and is a goldmine if you are prepared to go through every disc they've got. They (or their customers) are not strong believers in the alphabet so keep digging. Set aside a few hours when you're rich and sober.
Radio
- BLOOD AND BLACK DAHLIAS:
3d - 93.7 FM Wednesdays at the ungothly hour of 6-30 to 7-30pm

Canberra (ACT)
A surprising number of Goths get stuck here through Uni and suchlike, and the scene has had an incredible growth spurt over the last six to eight months (02-Nov-1998).
Clothes
- THE FAIRY GOTH SHOP / SUB BAZZAR:
The Fairy Goth shop has recently moved to a new location, now downstairs in the Melbourne Building, Civic, sharing a space with a few other "shops" - rather like a small pathetic version of the Melb flea market. The Fairy goth shop stocks second hand clothes amongst which one can find garments of velvet, lace etc., and other bits and pieces which appeal to goths, though the prices could be better. The other shop include an array of comics (second hand I think?) and some haberdashery (but don't get excited sewinggoths, its not that great!). **
- GORMON HOUSE MARKETS:
On Saturdays open from 10am-4 pm. Ainslie Ave. Civic.
Lots of second hand clothes, books, etc. stalls, as well as jewelry, candles, incense etc. The best array of clothes, and the best prices you'll find here. ***
- PRETTY ON THE INSIDE:
Upstairs on Bunda Street, just across from Heaven.
Another second hand clothes store, but little black to be found - check it out though as it has been know to yield the odd gem. **
Clubs
- NEXUS: **** at Heaven: on Bunda St. (Garema Place) in the Civic Centre
Nexus is on the first Thursday of every month.
In a club decorated with metres of crumpled black plastic, with white netting glowing in the uv lights, the air heavy with smoke and incense, Nexus plays goth, industrial, ebm, punk and new romantic music. Requests always welcome. Playlists and confirmed dates/times are available through their website.
- A.N.U. BAR:
Union Court, University Ave, ANU campus.
You'll find gaggles of goths most lunchtimes, and evenings if there is a suitable band on.
- NARCISSUS: Once a month (usually the last Wednesday) at The Gypsy Bar.
- CORROSION: Once a month at Rock Ape, usually on a Saturday night.
Music
- LANDSPEED RECORDS:
Downstairs, Garema Place, Civic.
Landspeed records had a pretty good goth/industrial section but it has died off of late due to poor sales, however, you can order pretty much anything in as they deal with Heartland Records in Melb. The second hand vinyl second can have some good stuff. Subscribers to the radio station 2XX which hosts Beyond the Grave (see below) receive at 10% discount. **
- CD REVOLUTION:
East Row (bus interchange) Civic.
All second hand cds. You can find some really good stuff here - the usual Cure and Sisters, but also some rarer stuff. The prices are reasonable too. Be sure to check the metal section - somehow that is where all the cold meat industry ends up!! ***
- IMPACT RECORDS:
East Row (bus interchange) Civic.
The biggest record store stocking "alternative" stuff. No goth section as such, but have a look through the alternative bit and the second hand stuff (though the best second hand stuff is in Revolution). **
- THE BELCONNEN MUSIC STORE:
Belconnen mall - (02) 6251 1703
One of the Narcissus D.J.'s, Amanda, put considerable time and effort into convincing the Belconnen music store that they should provide a goth section. It's located in the Belconnen mall, but worth the trip up there as it's likely to have things that Impact and Landspeed just don't stock. - Delirium (29-Nov-1998)
Radio
- 2xx 1008 AM:
- SKREAMIN' KORPSE:
On every Friday with Kabal from 11pm - 1am (and beyond) Death and Dark Ambient music. An industrial show which features electro/ebm and darkwave ambient (i.e. cmi type stuff) on alternate weeks.
- 2XX(98.3 FM) has an allegedly decent Industrial music program. Check the site for details.
Hobart (Tas)
Clothes
- SALAMANCA MARKETS:
Salamanca Place until 3pm and Op-shops, Saturdays.
- KOOKABURRA:
Sandy Bay Road, above Salamanca.
Worth a look.
Clubs
Some alternative club nights such as TACKYLAND (Syrup, Knopwoods, Salamanca, Thurs/Sat) are reputed to be reasonably goth-friendly.
It is extremely unwise to enter random clubs in the hope of finding goths. Hobart's only goth band, Blood Puppet (formerly Prayers In Ashes), usually does a string of a dozen gigs or so every few years and has released a couple of mini-album length tapes. Sound quality is shocking but well worth the effort.
- THE COVEN: 7 Despard St, Hobart (Behind Customs House Hotel, on Waterfront)
From their web page: "A GOTHIK, INDUSTRIAL, ALTERNATE DANCE CLUB". The first goth club in Tasmania.
Music
It is essential to find a good interstate mail-order company as you cannot survive solely on what is locally available:
- EDUARDOS:
Magnet Court, Sandy Bay
Formerly had quite good new release goth stocks but has new staff and seems less enthusiastic now.
- TRACKS:
Murray Street.
Sometimes have a few things.
- RARE GROOVE:
Elizabeth Street.
Sometimes have a few things.
- AEROPLANE:
Victoria St
Often have some early 80s goth and 4AD-type stuff, usually cheap.
- MUSIC WITHOUT FRONTIERS/GOLDRUSH:
upstairs from Aeroplane.
Are similar to Aeroplane and sometimes have interesting 12" singles but usually avoid mainline "goth" material.
- RARE GROOVE:
Elizabeth Street
Have very little.
- COSMOS RECORD FAIRS:
Frequency: about twice annually. Usually have a couple of other stalls which have early stuff.
Radio
- 92.1 THE FM:
The community station will probably play practically anything if you listen long enough but is very difficult to receive. That aside, forget it.
Misc.
WRT Books: For those desperately seeking Poppy and Storm, your only real chances secondhand are RAPID EYE (Sandy Bay Rd above Salamanca) and IMPERIAL (Imperial Arcade, Collins St). These are also the best places for other stuff likely to be of interest to goths, but be warned: the latter is a den of chaos.
New Zealand
Clothes
- VIRUS:
161 Karangahape Road, Newton, Auckland.
The original creators of gothic clothing in Auckland, also now making ravewear. Famous screenprints include Aleister Crowley, Salvador Dali and the Eye print - plus PVC and lotsa mesh. Very cool. Garments *** Accessories ** (not a lot) Service ***.
An opinion: The one really good place there [New Zealand] is "virus", clothing and music, and the selection of music available for purchase is, i would have to say, better than what's available in Sydney. The reason, probably, being that in Sydney everything sells quickly.
- PANDORA'S FASHIONS OF YESTERYEAR:
Lorne Street, Auckland City.
Vintage and veteran clothing - some nasty, some nice. The original owner was really nice, but she has moved on, and the ladies that run it now can be a bit snipey. Garments ** Service *.
- VERALIN:
2 Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby, Auckland.
Clothes, fabric and accessories ranging from 1920s upwards. This is one of the oldest of all the recycled clothing shops that seem to have sprung up over the last couple of years. They're great if you don't have the time, patience or inclination to go op-shopping - they get all the best stuff anyway (cos they spend most of the day roaming the op-shops)! Have fabulous sales, and a $3 bargain bin. Garments *** Service **.
- THIS IS NOT A LOVE SHOP:
226 Dominion Road, Mt Eden, Auckland.
They've been around for ages and know their stuff, but tend to alter the clothes they get very badly and cater to the young retro age group - bring a large stick to threaten the kids with ;) Garments ** Service **.
- BIZARRE:
363 Dominion Road, Mt Eden, Auckland.
Cool secondhand clothing shop specializing in vintage clothing, lots of 60s little black dresses. Garments ***.
- K'RD MARKETS:
K'Rd Overbridge, Newton, Auckland.
Saturdays 10am-4pm - check out the t-shirt stand with lots of Bauhaus and Siouxie prints.
- THE GREAT FROG:
19 Lorne Street, Auckland.
Jewelers originally from Carnaby Street in London, specialising mainly in silver rings and neckpieces. Can be a bit heavy metal, but have some great Egyptian, Celtic and pagan pieces.
- NECROMANCE:
7 Century Arcade, 5 High Street, Auckland. Tel: 3770623.
Original silver jewelry by William Griffith as well as furniture etc. - very Giger-esque and pretty damn amazing. Also import grotesque platforms from Europe for the Judge Dredd-inspired.

It's on weekdays and weekends. Prices are: $10 upwards. Rating: Three Stars. Gothic clothing and accessories. - THE LAST FOOTWARE COMPANY:
79a Cashel Street, Chirstchurch
It's on weekdays and weekends. Prices are: Fair. Rating: Four Stars. Every Wednesday night from 9pm: Industrial, Gothic and New Wave DJing from Mark (Bizarre Beats). Free entry.
Music
- BIZARRE BEATS:
161 Karangahape Road, Newton, Auckland.
The only specialist gothic/industrial record shop in Auckland, AFAIK. Mark gets a new shipment in every month or so, so it's well worth dropping by frequently to see what new treasures have arrived. They do mail-order, too (PO Box 8385, Symonds Street), and their prices are very reasonable.
- REAL GROOVY RECORDS:
438 Queen Street, Auckland.
Now have their own cute li'l goth/industrial bin in the alternative section, although they seem to be allergic to the G-word - everything is classed under a sign saying "industrial" (Bauhaus?).
- ECHO RECORDS:
237-239 High Street, Christchurch
It's on weekdays and weekends. Prices are: Average for NZ. Rating: One Star. Echo has a tiny Gothic section in its main store, not much other than known 80s bands or Cleopatra compilations. The second hand variety is a bit better, but try also Galaxy Records just down the road.

Northern Territory (NT) and elsewhere
No-one has actually submitted anything. We suspect it's because there are actually no significant concentrations of goth subculture to be found, but, we're always interested in hearing new info :-).
