The ACG Short Story Collection

"Here you live and die by your words. Nothing more, nothing less.
Thats it."
- entrippy on acg

So an incomplete introduction, after all, you can hardly expect the editor to write her final words and thoughts on the collection, while we are still gathering the pieces. And of course - being a website - I doubt things will ever be finished, we can but try to gather together a decent collection of thoughts and stories and material to entertain the reader. And in the process stroking all of the contributers ego's a bit as they get to show off there work. I also think its pretty funky that we have such a talented bunch of people in such an easily accessible place.

I have a lot to say on the subject of stories, and also on writing. We all write, sometimes for ourselves, sometimes to satisfy a burst of ceative energy and sometimes for an audience. We write to express our thoughts and ideas, to get concepts and theories across to others. Personal writing we write for ourselves, but when it comes to writing fiction we write to entertain, to provoke thought, to play with concepts, to experiment and to create. And in order to entertain you usually need an audience. So I guess thats what I'm after here, material to entertain a willing audience.

These stories are writen by all sorts of people who work all sorts of jobs and live all sorts off lifes in a whole pile of different cities. These people havea few things in common. They tend to identify in someway with the gothic subculture, however you define goth :), and they all post to aus.culture.gothic. Other than that, they all try to write for whatever reason.

So why write? and why collate it and why publish it on the web for all to see?
Because we can.
And because sometimes we can believe in dreams.
