A Tabletop Game for 4 Players
The Bard looked
down upon his captive audience. He walked across the stage, sweeping
his arms up into the air and smiled at the children below as they
wriggled in their parents' laps.
“Once upon a
time... there was an enchanted land filled with damsels, dragons and
dashing heroes. The kingdom was plagued with bandits, witches, wizards
and the vilest monsters who lurked in the dark forests. It would be one
much like MYSELF who would save the land from evil and a dangerous
curse...”
“That's not
right!” cried a child's voice from the back. The Bard glared at the
child, but quickly returned to his story, louder than before.
“The leader of
the bandits has made a pact with the monsters of the forest...”
“Uh-uh! You’ve
got it all wrong!”
The Bard sighed
heavily. “The king’s only daughter had been ferried away in the middle
of the night to become the bride of the monster folk...”
“That’s not
quite true.”
“Oh do shut
up,” groaned the Bard. “I AM THE STORYTELLER young man, not YOU.”
“Yes but you’re
not telling it right. You're lying mister. Did you happen to mention
the little beast-girl? Or the ugly-carpenter? No? What about...”
The Bard
groaned once more, and set about teaching the child a thing or two
about stories!
This is a tale of a story that refuses to told the way it’s
meant to be.
Come join Pointless Mental Cruelty in the world of fairy
tales, where fantastic stories unfold and characters are hoping to
achieve their “happily ever after” (or not!).
An improvisational Game where Players set the scene.

A Freeform for 12 convicted counter-revolutionaries
"The Revolutionary Tribunal has found you guilty of
counter-revolutionary activities in supporting the return of the
detestd Bourbon Monarchy.
The Committee of General Security has graciously arranged your
incarceration at the Luxembourg prison for an undefined period of time
until M. Sanson, the Public Executioner, can attend to you.
We recommend you use the time remaining to: put you affairs
into
order, rediscover your true dignity, revive your patriotism and ensure
that your legacy for future generations is one that will be proudly
remembered.
Signed
M. Robespierre
Committee of Public Safety

Long live the revolution!"

It's a
new-look web site, prettier and shinier than ever! Thanks be to Shell for her CSS input.
On another
note, if you've tried to download any of our Games over the past six
months, you may have noticed the links haven't worked. The company
storing the files changed their policy in 2007 and deleted our
documents after 60 days. Never fear, we've sourced a new place to host
our PDF's and Games can once more be downloaded for you to read (or
perhaps even try to run!).

We've
created a blog at pmcgames.wordpress.com.
Blogs are one of the simplest ways to maintain and update inform
on-line (especially with six members!). There is an RSS feed linked to
our home page as well.

Vorpalcon is Adelaide's Gaming convention. It's been running
since 2005 and held at the Old Adelaide Gaol just outside the CBD. If
you're into good food, idyllic locations, a quiet getaway and some
gaming, why not take a look at the Vorpalcon web site and think about
spending a weekend in the City of Churches.

Sub Rosa is a new Ars Magica fan mazagine, released online in
PDF
format in quarterly editions. It is a magazine made by Ars Magica fans,
for Ars Magica fans. Compiled by Alex White and published by Pointless
Mental Cruelty, it hopes to inspire a new generation of Ars Magica
authors, and fill the gap between Atlas Games releases.
The Sub Rosa web site is currently located at www.subrosamagazine.org.

Arcanacon XXV (2007) is over for another year. Photos from the Game we ran, and
a copy of Mythbusters B.C. to download
are available for eager Players to take a look at.
On another note, and then
there were SIX! We welcome Scott
Vandervalk into PMC as of Arc '07. Scott is a scientist, writer
and perhaps one of the nicest gentlemen you‘re ever likely to meet!
Nicknamed mousebane for his talents relating to snapping the necks of
mice all in the pursuit of medical research, Scott has written over 10
RPG’s presented at Australian conventions, idolises Neil Gaiman and
tends to obsess over new, creative ideas.

PMC would like to welcome Shell Steel into the fold! Shell is
the latest member of the Pointless Mental Cruelty crew. She describes
herself as a Gamer girl who likes shiny things and to blow stuff up.
That's what all Gamer girls say, right?!? Well... She REALLY DOES blow
stuff up in her spare time. A scout troop leader filled with
enthusiasm, energy and being mentally cruel, expect Shell to add to the
confusion of Mythbusters B.C. at Arc 2007 this year.

Well, Vorpalcon is over. Two days of Gaming in Adelaide have
led to a lot of happy players and even happier organisers! Daniel,
Kimito and Shell, the Game Masters who ran "Save Bill!" and "The
Brotherhood of the Caribbean: The Island of Las Aves" have provided a
few photos which can be found by clicking
here.
Thanks to the Vorpalcon organisers for their support. We look
forward to Vorpalcon 2007, and (hopefully!) the first appearance of the
"Completely Pointless" trophy, whatever that may be!

Gencon, "The best 4 days of Gaming", is coming to Australia!
Yes, according to www.genconoz.com,
a event promotions company in Brisbane is organising Gencon Oz 2008...
It's a FEW YEARS away yet, but if not a hoax, then we Role-Players of
Terra Australis will be able to enjoy a taste of Gencon Indy, Gencon
SoCal or Gencon Europe!
Who will be there? What Games will be on offer? What new and
undiscovered systems will poke their heads through the coulds? It's a
'squee' moment for Gamers nation-wide! Let's hope that it comes to
pass...
