Handfasting
Here's some of the first photo's of the handfasting. Most of them were taken just after the ceremony in Fitzroy Gardens. There will be some more appear soon. Photo's of the party, including the obligatory one of Morgan with his pants down, guess what! Madi kept his pants on all evening! And a few more taken in Fitzroy gardens. Yes, that's us, the happy couple, note the hand's tied together, you can't see in a photo how much we were shaking at this point in time. Absense of thought, I think we were both in shock at this point!
The gushy bit. *sigh* Well, I guess its to be expected at a Handfasting.
Morgan and Marian were our celebrants. Rather fitting, when you know that is was Morgan who introduced us, I believe the line 'Renee, this is Madi, he's good in bed" was my introduction. It was Morgan and Marian's game I went to Necro 97 to GM, and Necro 97 were I met Madi. So I guess it's all their fault. Well, at least I keep blaming Morgan for everything, but someone has to. Morgan and Marian, are not registed celebrants, but they are loved friends, and they did a beautiful job of the ceremony.
This is the group photo of everyone who attended the ceremony, except for Neef, who is behind the camera. Okay - right to left we have - Marian, Nigel, Megan, Morgan, Duff, Kirrily, Jerome, Renee, Madi, Ben, Larry, Thorfinn, Richard and Sara. With David and Rosanne sitting down the front. Kirrily is holding the candle that was used in the ceremony. The people that attended the ceremony are those who are special to both of Us. And we thank them all for witnessing the ceremony.
Another photo's of some of the people at the ceremony. Right to Left - Sara, Richard, Madi, Renee, Roseanne, David and Larry. Roseanne and David came all the way from Sydney for the ceremony. It was in their house that we got engaged, and they are a coupe that have been a huge inspiration to us. Larry also travelled all the way from Canberra.
Okay, this is our household, the remanents of Hotel York, now proudly known as Hotel Gore. The photo says it all about our flatmates really. Who, well at least, have found a great deal of amusement in the whole our getting engaged and handfasted thing. Right to Left - Jerome (wanna be yuppie scum), Duff(to vague to be a hippy), Renee, Madi and Nigel(Grumpy the Dwarf). Distressing though they may be, this motley bunch can be great flatmates.
Well, we finally got Neef out from behind the camera. One of my favourite photos ever of me and Neef.
Later in the evening, Roseanne performed a candle ceremony for us. A simple ceremony celebrating the solstice and midsummer. After invoking a blessing, everybody lit a tea light candle and made a wish, the wishes ranged from world peace, happiness, friendship, love and all sorts of things. It was a very simple, very special ceremony, and really beautiful. This photo is of the candles placed around the fire, after people made their wishes.
