Trip diary
Part 2 -the second
Roadkill count - 31
anyway - what i done on my holiday
25th
Drive to Sydney - Mike's first experience with Sydney traffic wasn't too bad - but then it was a public holiday, A bit of a traffic jam on the motorway but hey - its sydney - the no right hand turn signs really bothered him :)
Arrived at Michael and Arwens unpacked car and drove off to brave the city. Wanddered down to darling harbour with not too many wrong turns and found lunch and went to the chinese gardens which were as beuatiful as always, and mike really liked them too. There is a photo of me under a waterfall. Sitting near the waterfall was great, I sort of started meditating, and just feeling the positive energy around me, it made me feel stronger just being there. I usually have real trouble concentrating on meditation type things, but here it was easy. It was much fun.
We then went to Michael and Arwens, after a complete failure to find somewhere open that delivered, we wandered down king st and found a place called red Kangaroo that did Thai food. I got a Laksa for Arwen, and a Phad Thai for Me, and Mike got Roo with crystal noodles, and i think we were all pretty satisfied with the result.
The party that night was much fun. Michael has a blow up pool thats a decent size and we all had a splash, food, presents nice ppl, really happy friendly vibe and some very bad jokes.
The crowd was good, but I guess my mood wasn't....don;t know why this was, I've been down a bit lately. I felt there was an expectation to be cheerful and happy, so I made an effort, but still felt a bit flat. I guess I've just been hanging out for me time, with now social committments - december always does that I think. Still really glad I was there tho and with such great people. Also as I felt comfortable in that house, I felt I could be less than a vivacious and bubbly tiggrr and get away with it.
You know typing in a car going fast down a windy road with some really pretty scenery is really sub optimal typing conditions.
26th
We went to the Aquarium. DId a kind of quick tour through it, skipping a lot of the earlier stuff, murray river and wetlands, straight on to the harbour, deep sea and barrier reef sections, as we were time limited. Giant sharks and big rays and pretty coloured fish and all sorts of facinating stuff - the aquarium was definately as amazing as I remembered and well worth a visit. Then onto Mark and Nikki's, just in time, as we headed almost straight off to Craigs party. Again lots of ppl, pretty friendly, more ppl I didn't know at this one, but that was expected. I think Mike had a lot of fun meeting lots of new ppl tho. Watched Edward Scissorhands and Dogma on DVD, wandering out to be sociable with the crowd outside occasionally. Mike finally got to meet Mystery Chick from Brisbane and all is well with the world.
